A heater sold in Bunnings is being urgently recalled due to concerns that it could pose a serious safety risk.
Customers who purchased a white CLICK electric heating panel with wheels are asked to immediately unplug and return the product.
Concerns relate to the power cord not being securely anchored to the appliance and if pulled it could detach or become loose.
Faulty cable creates a risk of electrocution or fire, which is of great concern for the safety of users.
The affected model numbers were CPN1500 (1500 Watts) and CPN2500 (2400 Watts) with a lot code of 01/22.
The units were sold nationally at Bunnings stores between March 1, 2022 and July 12, 2022.
“Consumers should immediately stop using the product, unplug it from the outlet, and return the product to any Bunnings store for a full refund,” a statement said.
Last week, another heater sold at Bunnings was also recalled for similar reasons.
An Australia-wide recall has been made on the Mill 2000W Electric Convection Panel Heater due to a problem with its power cord.
The model numbers at issue in that recall were AU SG2000LED and AU SG2000LED BK.
At the time, Bunnings merchandising director Jen Tucker explained that the retail giant had conducted additional third-party accredited testing of the units, which found that some units did not meet the cable anchor performance standard.
“This is clearly an unexpected result given that the original third-party accredited tests conducted by the vendors and our random end-of-stock inspections indicated that both heaters met applicable safety and performance requirements,” it said.
“Due to this inconsistency in cord anchor test results, we are supporting the supplier with the recall of the heaters and have withdrawn them from sale.
