The price of a pub favorite is about to get more expensive

The price of chicken schnitzels is about to get more expensive, with Australia’s largest poultry producer Ingham warning of a price increase later this year.

The company said it would be forced to raise prices everywhere, from supermarkets and butcher shops to restaurants and fast-food chains.

Increased costs for food, fuel and labor caused by the war in Ukraine and COVID-19 has been shot. And the ripple effect means that consumers will have to bear the cost.

Ben Johnson of the Lord Gladstone Hotel in sydney He said that while the company would love to take the hit for customers, they have to “keep the doors open somehow.”

“No matter how much prices go up, we will always find a way to keep the schnitty and parmie,” he said.

Chicken remains the most affordable high-quality protein, with pork nearly twice the price and lamb three times as expensive.

The price increase is the latest in a series of food increases affecting Australian households.

Shoppers have felt the pinch amid soaring prices for fruits, vegetables and eggs.

Shortages of produce such as iceberg lettuce, caused by heavy flooding and supply chain disruptions, have sent prices skyrocketing in recent months.

Meanwhile, Australia is facing its biggest beer tax hike in decades, meaning a pint at the pub could soon cost customers up to $15.
